How will we ever have something to put on the page unless we are feeding the stories that live inside us?

Thanks for sharing all the great quotes!Mary Maryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09429769115085903305noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3266371808927804670.post-34439681728384875952012-06-16T15:44:51.963-06:002012-06-16T15:44:51.963-06:00Great idea! Always a good thing to keep in mind for the weeks we're not sure what else to write, at any rate. :)Stephaniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02187854108656107958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3266371808927804670.post-50176053679974953622012-06-16T12:47:51.713-06:002012-06-16T12:47:51.713-06:00"Recall some personal failure, something for ..."Recall some personal failure, something for which you've never forgiven yourself, and write it down. Make it a story. What was that person-who-was-you, but whom you hardly recognize for the appalling way she behaved, thinking?"

This is great advice, Sister Stephanie. I am always looking out for inspiration (I'll write a post about this next). I love your idea of honoring Ray Bradbury with a post about him. Maybe we should start a series on admired authors. :-)Lorenahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02503246106378290240noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3266371808927804670.post-80270179421470796902012-06-13T05:04:11.678-06:002012-06-13T05:04:11.678-06:00I wouldn´t know. Science Fiction may have been despised by critics, but the 50's, when Ray Bradbury began publishing, was its Golden Age, so it was not an issue of publication there but recognition and respectability. The public loved his works and eventually critics came around too.Violantehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02800111423488923625noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3266371808927804670.post-8900382755045018122012-06-12T19:18:41.464-06:002012-06-12T19:18:41.464-06:00"I am afraid I have followed Master Bradbury’..."I am afraid I have followed Master Bradbury’s advice. I can't imagine that some sort of dry, clinical, calculated, heartless bit of prose would do better than something you really feel.

And yes, his cat was adorable!Stephaniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02187854108656107958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3266371808927804670.post-44300979615797097592012-06-11T14:11:44.343-06:002012-06-11T14:11:44.343-06:00Dear Sister Stephanie,
Speculation, like Fantasy, ...Dear Sister Stephanie,
Speculation, like Fantasy, has always been regarded as “light entertainment”. Only great masters like Ray Bradbury or Isaac Asimov have received the much deserved recognition. Let´s see who will follow their steps and be recognized as “serious” science fiction or fantasy author.

How long has it been since you wrote a story where your real love or your real hatred somehow got onto the paper? When was the last time you dared release a cherished prejudice so it slammed the page like a lightning bolt? What are the best things and the worst things in your life and when are you going to get around to whispering or shouting them?

I am afraid I have followed Master Bradbury’s advice. I have written about my anger, my prejudices, my loves, and the best thing that happened in my life… And that is why I’ll never get published!

Great post! And what a lovely cat he had!Violantehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02800111423488923625noreply@blogger.com
